ZOMGZ WEDDINGZZZ
Okay, so by now probably everybody knows that allen gave me this:
We are trying to do it super low-key, totally secular, and low-budget. So far we have had some ideas. We wanted to get married in October, but throwing a party for 100 people is kind of impossible in 2 months, so we moved it to March. so uh,
location: probably in an art gallery downtown
catering: heavy appetizers
flowers: diy, low budget, whatever we can get. I think I just want to do all one color, so maybe all white
cake: no idea
photography: we have a ton of photographer friends so we're going to ask them to help
music: we might try to get a band? but we might just do ipod DJ or get a friend to DJ
ceremony: at the location, friend with internet ministry?
dress: no idea, probably something super casual and not very bridal
invites: my super talented friend andrea is doing some letterpress invites, she is brilliant, so I know they will be awesome. I am actually looking forward to the invites more than anything else. ha ha!
Anyway! I will probably go all bridezilla on your asses soon enough, but that is the general idea. WHEE PARTY!
Comments
BTW, stayed one night last week in your neck of the woods (Chesapeake.) Nice area. Really hot.
Jeff, hot? It actually has been a cool few weeks in here! ;)
(Oh, wait. That was MY dream, not yours. :) )
Such a pretty ring!
Robyn: his sister got married in vegas by Elvis, so we don't want to totally rip her off! :)
Elizabeth: Andrea, the letterpress gal, already suggested that! I think it's a great idea, so I think we're moving forward with that. You people are so creative, I should have all of YOU plan this wedding. I am like "bah duhhhhh" about the whole thing. My brain just sort of shuts down.
OMG, can we have an internet bake sale to raise money for wedding foods? Like everyone sell shit on eBay or etsy or whatever and put it in the Fried Rice Buffet Fund? Because I totally will.
re: photogs & food -- check your local colleges to see if they have photo/culinary programs. A lot of kids will do free photos to build their portfolio and the same with food... good practice, especially if you're low-key, and they'll do it for peanuts. Or grains of rice.
My former neighbor is a celeb wedding planner and she always includes these lounge areas with like bench seating and whatever that look nice and are functional and are the highlight of any party (people love to sit!).... and she's always just buying stuff at Ikea. I wish I lived closer so that I could help. I'm good at schlepping and moving furniture and stuff. ;)
My computer crashed a month ago...so I didn't know!! SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! YAY!!
I would jump on the couch if I had one!
All the way from DeLaWhere,
Best wishes for all good things (as ever)
Brendan, Denis & Morgan
Congratulations!!
Also, for my advice on casual wedding dress shopping, see my comment on Erin's blog when she announced she and Randy were planning a "no big deal" affair.
It is completely, 100% worth the time and energy to go into David's Bridal and harass the sales people with your non-weddingy demands. Seriously.
