Starting over
Due to some sad changes in our HR department causing some really unfortunate policies, I'm leaving my job as soon as possible. I've been here 8 years, it's time to move along. In an emotional preparation for leaving, I have cleaned out every personal item from my office.
It is incredibly cathartic to walk away from all of this. I have suffered under really bad management for a really long time, and it feels amazing to be able to finally say, "Enough."
I can't wait to find something else. I'm so excited about a change, a challenge, a new environment. I can almost taste it.

That just hurts my soul.
Your job sounded worse than one of my friend's jobs... you can read all about it here: http://bornperformer.blogspot.com (mostly having to do with dealing with people who fear change more than death itself).
Anyhow, didn't mean to sound like a linkbot there. I am so excited for you. This will be AWESOME.
YAY!!
I just sat through an 8 hour meeting at work yesterday that was essentially all about this: YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN CAREER. They stressed over and over and over how no one else is ever going to help you, and then gave a tour of the tools to help yourself. Which I totally get. But it was also surprising how many people kept asking the questions about 'well, isn't my manager going to tell me what to do?' as if your manager should determine your entire future. Don't be that person who works for 28 years and nobody helps you. That's b.s. and you are way too awesome for that. xoxo
we get cultured regularly on the same thing(s) that mia sez. so GOOD FOR YOU! for taking charge of your own life, future and self respect. i wish all the best for you. good things will come from this. =) xxooo
Great job! If only you could have a job saving kitties!
congrats on moving on to the next big thing!
